3-27-06 MK News District 23 March Meeting: More was discussed on the sound issue in regards to motocross. The district will make sure that there are at least 2-3 Board Representatives at each race to identify to the referee the 10 bikes they find to be the loudest. The promoters will be required to be able to perform the sound testing, which includes having the personnel on hand that have been trained. Promoters can get in touch with Tom Umphress for details on training classes. A motion was brought forward that beginning with the first race of
the 2006 season, there will be mandatory sound testing at every motocross
race. The class representatives will work with the referees to identify
at least 10 of the loudest sounding bikes. The promoter will provide
the testing site, the testing equipment, and the trained testing personnel.
If a rider is found to be illegal during practice, he/she will have
the opportunity to reduce the sound of his/her bike and can retest before
the race. If at this point the rider is found legal, he/she can race.
If a rider is found illegal after a race, the rider will be dealt with
per AMA rules (disqualification). The motion passed unanimously. |
